Our Story

A Yakima Drive-In Since 1962

We’re the Lariat Bar-B-Q, and we’ve been cooking on the corner of W Yakima Ave since 1962. The neon cowgirl out front has been pointing folks to the walk-up window for generations, and not much about how we do things has changed.

Every burger is hand-made and cooked to order, only after you order it, so it lands hot and fresh. Our pit puts out real Bar-B-Q beef, ham and turkey, the pulled pork comes with plenty of sauce, and the shakes and malts are still thick enough to stand a spoon in. Folks tell us the Kemper Burger tastes exactly like they remember.

There’s no big dining room here, just the window, a few covered picnic tables, and a clean kitchen we’re proud of. Thanks for supporting a Yakima small business. Pull up and we’ll take care of you.

We're a classic Yakima drive-in. Order at the walk-up window and grab a spot at the covered picnic tables out front. There's no indoor dining room, which is part of the charm. Call ahead at (509) 248-0888 and we'll have your order ready to go.

Everything is cooked to order, only after you order it. It's how we make sure your food comes out hot, fresh, and worth the wait. Burgers and BBQ take a few minutes, so plan for a short wait at busy times.

Hand-made burgers (including the Kemper Burger that locals have loved for generations), real pit Bar-B-Q beef, ham and turkey, pulled pork, and thick shakes and malts. The fry sauce gets its own fan club.

We're at 621 W Yakima Ave in downtown Yakima, with our own lot right at the window, so you skip the crowds and parking hunt near Pybus. The big neon sign out front is hard to miss.

Open Monday through Saturday, 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM. Closed Sundays. Holiday hours can vary, so give us a call if you're not sure.

We do. A Hotsack of fries feeds a crew, and a dozen Kemper burgers is a Yakima tradition. Call ahead at (509) 248-0888 for bigger orders so we can have them hot and ready.
